It’s a blessing to have people around, especially ones who can keep your brain churning with activity and keep oiling your mind’s cogwheels with creative juices and ideas…..I’m Alhamdulillah endowed with this blessing again and again….besides as a dear friend of mine, who recently got married and heaped up on all the cosmic logic said to me yesterday on the phone:
“You know it’s all about giving people time and then they come out of their shells and you’ll be amazed at what they can be“, she was happy that all her university buddies had blossomed into someone people looked up to. I readily agreed with her….time had taught me just the same lesson….
So anyways now that I come to office each day, I feel happy to have colleagues who help me learn new things every passing hour. Summera has this great love for books and Meta Physics, while Gul is into talking about the realities of life plus the practical approach to everything and making sound decisions. Zehra likes to tell what is wrong with what we are doing and to boost everyone’s morale unfortunately forgetting to buck up when she is entangled within checking a deadly patch from Phoenix…our company’s middleware.
I like to listen and smile at all their conversations and pitch in my two cents whenever I can….every new day adds a little to my grey matter and today Summera showed me this simple but deep quote…she read it in this book she’s reading…”Chocolate for the woman’s soul” (I bet every girl would love to read that book
)
“What we are is God’s gift to us
What we become is our gift to God”
Author unknown
Apparently I’ve come across this quote so many times subconsciously but sometimes you need a little push to really see what is obvious. ‘I can’t help the way we look, but the expression I sport is entirely up to me” said the Orkut profile of my same cosmically logical friend and now that I come to think of it I realize that as Captain Planet said “The power is YOURS” power really is ours. It’s up to us to become ‘SOMEONE’ from ‘ANYONE’. When at crossroads there are always two ways to choose from, the right way and the wrong way….and perchance there may be a mid way but it’s up to us that which path we choose…..the catch being that we do have to choose one or the other else we’ll become stagnant, and stagnant things become murky.
By the end of the day all that matters is how sincerely we tried to bring about something good, good in us, good in society, good in relationships, good in anything …and that is when God smiles down on us because He is proud that His most beloved creation is aspiring and striving for the truth and right….the very reasons Almighty created us for

i hope we can understand
Beautiful musings. There’s another book on my hit list now. I’ve been thinking on the same path lately. We all talk about living a successful life. And success is a relative term here. I asked a few people what a successful life meant to them. They all talked about happiness. But you know, I’ve come to the conclusion that for me, a successful life is an extraordinary death. What needs elaboration here is the term ‘extraordinary death’. Death is something we all will achieve, it’s the extraordinary part we’ve to work on. Like, think of ‘Shahadaat’.
I agree with your friend that we must give people time, then they come out of their shells and we will be amazed at what they can be.
So, What we can do? i believe in “Think Big, Think Different and always help others in whatever way possible”. For me success is “Helping others”, for me success is “Making others happy”, for me success is “I tried to change the society”, for me success is “Someone learned from my experience and succeeded”.
@Faisal
Someday we will…keeping our minds open…and with time we will, we aren’t really a bad lot
@Hina
I remember that back when I was a kid I thought about getting Shaheed one day and for that I thought I’ll have to be a soldier and go in a war….growing up a little I wanted to be famous so that for the times to come there may be a record that there was someone and I’d become ‘alive forever’…but now I’ve realised that finding myself and being me would be the biggest success of my life. Every person has a role to play…a destiny to reach and when we start walking that path, alive or dead…we become successful.
Waisay to me also being content and satisfied would be a
sign of success or maybe a sign of numbing eh?
@Ali Bhai
You’re right, there is no success like a win-win situation…..otherwise you know how they say:
‘it’s lonely at the top!”
besides ppl who are successful and they got it through right means are not afraid to help others up since they know they did it the first time around, so they can do it the second time too
They’ve made Shahadat pretty easy these days. Just get into politics, honey.
On a serious note, however, there are many ways of attaining shahadat, no?
I’m dropping you an email. The question I wish to ask might be a little personal.
On a second thought, however, refering to one of your older posts, I’ll place you a call in the coming weekend. Don’t bother to reply the email.
Our gift to God. Personally, I find this part insulting. Maybe I fail to see the underlying streak of faith in the expression - maybe because expression can never be concrete enough to comprehensively endorse something like faith.
I agree, friends are a blessing, and so is solitude.
@Hina,
Yeah Shahadat is like waiting for you at every step now…the messier the world get…the easier it becomes to become pious….confusing eh? ….coz then a li’l good is all u need to be good
@Absar
I agree where you say expressions are not enough to explain faith….then again expressions/words can never really portray feelings completely, but what i fail to understand is how is this expression insulting…and to whom? …I’d really like u to elaborate, if u can
I don’t know if I can elaborate. I simply find it insulting to religion. God doesn’t need our ‘gifts’ as acts of good faith. We need his mercy. I know I might be looking at it from a completely different perspective, but that’s just how I feel. I can’t imaging ‘gifting’ something to Allah, but I hope to receive his blessings and mercy. That’s how I look at it.
Again, religion and faith is a very sensitive topic, so I’m being very careful to say this over and over - this is just my personal opinion - and what other opinion can I really express?
I so agree to your lines above about giving back. Do you have any ideas of as to how to do something more than what we are doing?
It feels good that you’re happy..
Stay happy! Always!
Or else you can tell me that whose making you unhappy and I’ll knock ‘EM down…
Day has broken into pieces and the darkness has emerged
“It’s a blessing to have people around, especially ones who can keep your brain churning with activity and keep oiling your mind’s cogwheels with creative juices and ideas”
cent % agree with you on this, what if they even don’t share any think creative but they some how save us to think about all those dark things from whom we actually want to stay away as much as possible ( hope you get wht i meant;))
I am simply in love with this quote of “Chocolate for the woman’s soul” since my school days, as i told you the story behind this over phone . Evn didn’t read the book yet but hoping to go through the whole chocolate series as i am in the last stages of my sheldon’s collection
@Absar
Well first of all I love the rhetoric in the end….indeed who else’s…and yet sometimes we speak someone else’s thoughts and don’t even know.
When I look at it from ur perspective I find ur point very valid but from my angle it is more about showing love and devotion through small simple gestures…like a peasant presenting a melon to the king…King doesn’t need a single fruit but the peasant gives it as a token to show that he cares and hopes to serve him onwards…..
Likewise making ourselves worthy people is a way of showing Allah (SWT) that we care for His approval and His blessings….but then again, I quote: “this is just my personal opinion - and what other opinion can I really express?”
@ Rakesh
Personally I think keh if we are able to do what we are doing perfectly tht is also enough and when we strive for perfection then it implicitly implies that we are trying to do more than our share by walking an extra mile…..
Though of late I have realized, it’s so darned easy to say things and set thresholds rather than being able to do them in all actuality.
@ Lubz
Hehe speaking philosophically, being happy or sad are relative terms….nobody makes u happy or otherwise it all depends on the frame of mind u choose to be in ….real nerdy eh
@———–
Although I think darkness is always there it’s actually the day that emerges out
….transitions friend..this too, will slip away someday soon, InshaAllah
@Ash
yeah distraction from the daily worries is good, and call it escapism or denying reality, it atleast helps us in moving on :)….yeah that book was nice, i onlyread two or three of it’s stories though…short lunch break thee na
Wow.. a taste of my own medicine, eh? (See what I did there? ;))
As Jughead, the wisest sage in Riverdale says: “It’s hardest to follow your own advice”
Oh you’re good!
Though I hate to admit it, but that’s actually very, very true :/
