First day at my second job…so far so good, nice and friendly people…I especially like the comfy seats…very, very important if you’ve to sit the whole day typing away at your terminal….

So last night while I was out with my TLC gang, 3 out of 15 people said that they couldn’t see me working in a software house….One was like why didn’t I go to the NSS side and stick to what Telecom Engineering is all about. I merely shrugged my shoulders and smiled,

” There are a lot of things in the current job requirement that I don’t know…I’ll like to learn them and go for it….seems like fun”

And since we were out partying actually so I didn’t press the issue any further….but a lot of people come and ask me the same question…and during the time between the quitting of my previous position and the acquiring of the current one…this is one thing that I realized and am following:

Getting a Bachelor’s degree in a particular faculty does not mean that you are fixed on doing that only…professional education opens your mind to the basics of a possible career choice you’d like to make or you could anytime go on and twang at your guitar!

But I haven’t worked on Linux….ever…the databases are Linux based, but I’d like to swim around in the new waters and while I complete my 3 months probationary period as an Associate Technical Writer at this big, nice software house dealing basically in ATM programming and e-banking…I hope I find some firm ground under my feet, Insha Allah.

————————————————————-

I never even worked in Databases either and they tell me that I’ll have to deal in them…so the bar is rising….but they interviewed me right? and I’m all for learning…plus I like all the rush of a challenge…I just hope I hang in there though…

*Praying* :)
